Brenna Poindexter
Executive Director Relationships are powerful. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege to cultivate relationships, help sustain relationships, and create countless relationships that have impacted my life. I believe in our mission and I am committed to defending youth potential as the Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Nebraska.
Prior to joining the team at BBBS, I served Nebraska’s adoption community as the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator for Right Turn®, a collaboration between Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska and Nebraska Children’s Home Society. At Right Turn®, in addition to marketing and outreach efforts, I was responsible for developing a peer mentoring program, creating, and implementing training for parents and professionals, assisting in service to families, planning statewide conferences, and orchestrating legislative advocacy. I have had the opportunity to provide training at multiple national conferences on topics such as trauma, adoption, and helping youth heal through relationships. I am also certified as a foster parent trainer for Trauma Informed Partnering for Safety and Permanence: Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting (TIPS-MAPP) and National Childhood Traumatic Stress Network’s Caring for Children Who Have Experienced Trauma. I am a graduate of the Grand Island Community Foundation’s Nonprofit Excellence Institute, “TEAM: Building Culture” (Target Excellence by Execution Achieve Mission) a program sponsored by Suzanne & Walter Scott Foundation, Bill and Ruth Scott personally, and Robert B. Daugherty Foundation. I also have experience serving children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as, helping to support an orphanage in Zimbabwe, Africa. I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. My personal life is filled with the joys of family. I am grateful to have a loving and supportive family. I spend time with two grown daughters, two stepchildren, two grandchildren, my siblings and their spouses, and all of our dogs. Time together is filled with laughter, adventure, creativity, and delicious food. I love to travel, visit the mountains and the ocean, support my children in their interests and activities, spend time with dear friends, and whatever other opportunities come my way. |
